Ali Barclay is standing again in Berkeley having already been a Councillor for the last four years. Her experience in community development has been part of her commitment to strengthening the many groups in Frome and improving communication between them and the council.
She has been a founding member of Fair Housing for Frome which aims to meet the needs of many people who don’t have access to affordable homes.
She feels committed to continue to find ways to listen to the town’s concerns and support developments that meet these needs.
As a business owner, I am passionate about the collaborative ways the business community and the Council have worked, and should continue to work, together.
I’m keen to continue to see the relationships between the Council, Chamber of Commerce and Local Enterprise Partnerships flourish for the benefit of Frome.
I work as a Financial Advisor, running my own business in town, so I have a strong interest in the business community in Frome and the development currently being planned at Saxonvale. As a serving committee member with the Frome Chamber of Commerce, I have been keen to get involved with the business community and would like to take that collaboration further as a Town Councillor, if elected.
Engaging with people is my passion.
My energy and enthusiasm have always been geared towards helping to manage change.
Whether as Chair of Trustees at Positive Action on Cancer, as a Governor at The Frome Community College, or as a charity fundraising event organiser, it’s always been about giving back to the community.
As Engagement Manager for Virgin Mobile I was responsible for the wellbeing of 1500 employees, striving to make their lives easier. It’s been about listening to what people do and don’t want, to make them feel heard, appreciated and valued. As a potential councillor, my intention will be to use those skills to build on what’s good, and work on those things that need to change.
