Why I’m Standing – Steve Tanner
When I’ve been out and about in Frome a few people have asked why I decided to get involved with the politics and especially IfF. A few have even commented that I don’t seem to be the normal IfF type. This has made me smile because as far as I am concerned this is one of the whole points of IfF: we attract people from all walks of life and all ages, all linked by a common goal , to get the best for Frome.
I don’t think of myself as a political person and the way big party politics has played out over the past few years would have tried the patience of a saint. None of the major parties focuses on truly local people their policies are mass-produced.
I strongly believe local decisions should be made locally, by local people, and not have to be ratified by faceless party officials hundred of miles away. I want to do some thing in Frome for Frome. This is why I joined the IfF and this is why I am proud to be standing for IFF in the local elections. I will do my best to improve the lives of everyone in Frome irrespective of who runs Westminster.
